How do you enter the crowded supplement market and build one of its fastest-growing brands?

On My First Million, entrepreneur Danny Yeung explains how he partnered with David Beckham to launch IM8 after his previous business lost much of its COVID-testing revenue.

From Crisis to a New Business

Yeung's company, Prenetics, generated over $700 million in revenue during the pandemic. But when demand for testing disappeared, its revenue collapsed.

Instead of giving up, Yeung launched IM8 in December 2024, offering a daily nutritional drink designed to simplify supplement routines.

According to Yeung, IM8 reached a $100 million annualized revenue run rate in 11 months, then doubled that to $200 million in 18 months.

The Marketing Strategy

IM8 differentiated itself through bold red packaging, premium branding, and Beckham's involvement as a co-founder.

Yeung also built a massive advertising operation:

  • 2,000–3,000 active ads at a time.

  • 500–800 creators tested weekly.

  • More than 200 in-person events to build trust.

The company continually tests creative ideas while investing in product development and customer experience.

Business Lesson

Standing out in a crowded market requires more than advertising.

IM8 combined distinctive branding, a convenient product, celebrity partnerships, and relentless marketing experimentation.

The lesson: find a clear reason for customers to choose you, then build a system to test and scale what works.
