FIVE TRUTHS BEFORE YOU LAUNCH AN E-COMMERCE BIZ

Greta pulls back the curtain on what actually makes online stores win—after building multiple eight-figure brands and watching thousands of students repeat the same painful mistakes. Her message is blunt: e-commerce success isn’t magic, it’s method.

1) SELL A SOLUTION, NOT A “COOL PRODUCT.”

The world doesn’t need more stuff. It needs better fixes. Start by identifying a real problem—ideally one you’ve lived—then build the product as the answer. She illustrates this with a waste-reduction brand: spot the landfill problem, then create reusable alternatives like metal straws.

2) MAKE SURE IT CAN SURVIVE SHIPPING.

If it’s heavy, fragile, or expensive to deliver globally, your margins die. Choose products that are light, durable, and cheap to ship—metal straws beat glass every time.

3) DIFFERENTIATE OR DISAPPEAR.

You don’t need to reinvent the wheel. You need one sharp edge: design, function, price, or scarcity. Personalization, retractable features, or limited editions can turn “me too” into “must have.”

4) YOUR CUSTOMER IS NOT EVERYONE.

Trying to market to all humans is marketing to no one. Define a tight target—demographics plus values—so your message lands hard.

5) BUILD THE CROWD BEFORE THE PRODUCT DROPS.

Flip “product-market fit” into market-product fit. Grow an audience first (Instagram is her go-to), then launch into a ready-to-buy community.

Bottom line: nail these five, and you don’t just launch—you lift off.
