Jaspreet Singh: Why the Rich Keep Getting Richer

Why do some people work their entire lives without building wealth, while others become financially independent?

Jaspreet Singh, founder of Minority Mindset, explains why financial education, investing, and spending habits make such a big difference.

On The Iced Coffee Hour, he shares how he built enough investment income to become financially independent in his late 20s.

Making Money vs. Building Wealth

According to Singh, the biggest difference between earning money and building wealth is asset ownership.

A high salary can buy expensive cars, clothes, and vacations. But wealth comes from owning assets that can generate income without requiring you to work.

Singh explains that he repeatedly chose to buy rental properties instead of purchasing his dream BMW.

Eventually, he could afford the car but no longer wanted it.

The 75/15/10 Money Rule

Singh recommends a simple budgeting system:

  • 75%: Maximum spending on living expenses.

  • 15%: Minimum invested into wealth-building assets.

  • 10%: Minimum saved.

Before investing aggressively, he recommends building an initial $2,000 emergency fund and paying off high-interest debt.

Once sufficient savings are established, he suggests increasing investments to 25% of income.

Why Inflation Benefits Asset Owners

Singh argues that inflation contributes to the growing wealth gap.

When prices rise, workers lose purchasing power if their wages don't keep up.

Meanwhile, people who own assets such as stocks, businesses, and real estate may benefit from rising asset values.

His message is simple: don't rely entirely on your paycheck.

Why He Believes in Long-Term Investing

Singh promotes an approach he calls Always Be Buying.

Rather than attempting to predict market crashes, he recommends investing consistently through rising and falling markets.

He also emphasizes diversification across different asset classes.

Excluding his own business, Singh describes his investment allocation as:

Investment

Allocation

Real Estate

50%

Stocks

30%

Startups and Crypto

18%

Gold

2%

These figures reflect his personal approach, not a recommended allocation for everyone.

The Biggest Financial Risk

Singh also warns about rising US national debt and the government's increasing interest expenses.

He believes excessive borrowing and inflation could weaken purchasing power over time.

His suggested response is to build financial knowledge, avoid unnecessary debt, and own a diversified portfolio of productive assets.

The Business Lesson

Don't work only to earn money. Work toward owning assets that can earn money for you.

Financial independence isn't necessarily about having the highest income. It's about controlling expenses, investing consistently, and building income that doesn't depend entirely on your time.
