Dawon Matthews went from selling candy on the streets of Philadelphia to running one of Houston’s most popular late-night food trucks. Despite jail time and repeated job rejections after earning his master’s degree, he refused to let his past define his future.

With just $10,000 and no culinary experience, Dawon launched a soul food truck that now generates about $22,000 per week after only eight months. Before entering the food industry, he also built and sold a seven-figure cleaning company and a six-figure junk removal business.
